The following is an example of what a good webquest looks like.

I found this website to be exemplary. From the introduction to the credits every expectation for the students was well outlined. The author used appropriate photos and the font was good, except for the few uses of lime green writing on grey background. The introduction and task were well detailed and gave students a taste of what they should expect from the webquest. The process was well thought out, but I feel that the fact that it is supposed to take two weeks is too long for students to spend on a webquest. Other than that the websites are relevant to the task and each assignment is very informative. Another drawback is that the links do not open in different windows. The evaluation, conclusion, and credits are very well done. The teacher page is great and goes in depth and mentions the state and NCSS standards. I liked this webquest a lot, but if I were to use it in my class I would have to alter it to be a little shorter so that my students would not be taking two weeks to complete it.
Very cool webquest. At first the lime green on grey was off putting but once I went through the tasks and process, the images and descriptions were great. I also found a webquest that involved the atomic bomb but this one is far better thought out and put together. The teacher page is more descriptive than the other webquests I've been looking through and that's always a great bonus.
ReplyDeleteThis is a really good webquest. It provokes just the right level of critical thinking level. It's also setup very well and flows as you read through it. The amount of info isn't too much however I don't agree that google is a useful link to give students because it is just too broad. The length of time, like many other webquests, just seems too long. There is a student page on the teacher page but it just says what the students will be doing not what grade they are. I think students could complete this lesson in four days and the time pressure would make them work harder.
ReplyDeleteGreat WebQuest! great pictures, great content, appropriate level for students. The teacher page is well informing of what the teacher will be expecting and the student page is well put together to enhance student learning. Like Carly, I am weary of using google as a link due to how wide the search may vary.
ReplyDeleteI agree that this webquest is deserving of a very good rating. The pictures make this very eyecatching and attractive, and despite the lime green on grey (my eyes did hurt a bit looking at it...) there is little to deter me from using it as a potential teacher. the NCSS standards are also a plus so people on both ends of this are aware of teh expectations.
ReplyDeleteYou found a great one, Alanna!! I really feel this is a well organized and interesting webquest. The author is very clear with the tasks for the students to follow, and the teacher's page is superb! I even like the lime green/grey combo---very modern. Fantastic use of images! I think I will bookmark this one. Good assessment, Alanna.
